Adding new output templates...

Is it possible to add a new template that is used to generate a set of pages when a new article is published? For example, if I wanted an article or index page to output the same data to two different designs, would this be possible? I have a news ticker on my site where the top headlines are fed in, and I've sacrificed the main headlines template for this. If possible, I'd like to be able to display these headlines somewhere else as a standard list. (I also have other uses for this with category index pages, so a search method probably wouldnt do). Many thanks :)

Thanks for the help - unfortunately that uses the search function to create the page. What I wanted to do was create multiple outputs of the same data to different templates, but have them statically created. Unless of course you can tell me how to get the search bit working in a PHP include, and also assuming it doesnt kill my server! Static page would be better... (or MySQL )

Could you not alter your news ticker - mine works by pulling the info from the article page - doesn't use up a template. PM me if you need some more info. BTW - what portal software are you using :)

Hi Canvey :) The news ticker software I am using needs the headlines fed in in a particular way, so I have edited the template to accomodate that. I would still need to edit other templates to have multiple outputs anyway, so it's not a specific thing with the news ticker. I'd be interested to know which you are using, as I found mine on another site, and, well - I didnt SEE any copyright notices! ;) As for the portal system, I'm creating my own in PHP. It's not that I'm an expert in this field - everything I've done so far has been with a lot of help from other sites and readme files! I just needed something fairly specific for my site, and the only way to get that was write it myself.

I will get some info over to you :) Of course I have no idea where your ticker came from - I'll ask my next door neighbour Greg instead ;) On mine I can run as many different versions as I wish - one for each category. So it might be an option for you.
