Error When Running Admin Page Can't Post

Hello,

The company I work for purchased the Search Engine service not long before it was discontinued. We just now found the time to start working on implementing it and i'm having some problems.

I have it installed with the permissions set according to the online documentation. When I run the link *domain name*/search/exec/admin.cgi I get an error saying the following:

Quote

Filelock Error!

This web application uses 'file locks' to ensure than only one user can update data at a time. The program was halted while in the middle of writing/accessing data because it could not obtain a filelock. Please ask your server administrator to fix the permissions (you need read-write access on your data directory).

For your reference, the filelock error was: 'error opening exclusive file lock D:/WWWRoot/dentists4kids.com/www/search/data/filelock.lock: Permission denied '.

Dentists4kids.com is our web domain. I've double and triple checked the permissions for filelock.lock specifically as well as everything else that is supposed to be set and it is set at what the documentation said. I also put the data, exec and templates folder in the cgi-bin folder...no luck and I changed all .cgi files to .pl and still no luck. As a side note, our server is windows-based.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Make sure that the /data/ directory (and all of the files & directories within) have full permissions for the user that Perl runs as -- usually IUSR_SERVERNAME.

Also, try deleting just the filelock.lock file and let Search Engine try to recreate it itself.

If that doesn't work, you may want to fill in a support request and we can run a test script to see what's going on in there. :)
