Updates don't stick Can't Post
Well I finally worked through all my initial install problems and things look good so far except for one BIG problem. Any changes I make under "edit html" or "update" simply vanish when saved. I get no error messages and the program comes back with the "The following page has been updated" message but when you check the page no changes have been saved. Thinking this might be a rights issue I even tried putting my html page in the uploads directory since I know pp will upload files to that directory and they stay. Still the changes go away....But now I am thinking that dir does not have modify rights just read and write rights. Crazy

Still I think it might be a rights problem. I know very little about Windows servers and rights so please bear with me. I am placing all my user html pages in individual folders within a users folder....ie. /userspages/user1/.../userspages/user2/..etc. Exactly what rights should these folders have? Read, Write, Modify....What else? And what user gets these rights? Everyone or just IUSR_CCSSWEB?

Once I get the rights straight do I really need to put the html pages in seperate pages? I did that in the uploads folder to keep their files seperated but do I really need to do that with the pages?

Please reply ASAP. I really need to get this up and running.

Hi there.

Thanks for posting!

Page Publisher will need the files it’s going to update to have read/write permissions. Typically on a Windows server, you would need to set the permissions on folder by folder bases. What this means is you would just need to make sure the folders that each of the pages you want to update are in, has read/write permissions.

The permissions will need to be set for the user that perl runs as on your server which is usually IUSR_Servername where Servername is actually the name of your server.

Does that all make sense? Could you have a look into this and let me know if it gets you going? I look forward to hearing from you Smile.

Thanks Ross. That did it. So far so good. Everything seems to be working great now. So far I really love this little app!
