Some image and page update questions Can't Post
Hi,

I'm seriously considering purchasing Page Publisher. It looks great. Before I do, I have some questions.

Almost all my clients are artists and arts organizations, so they need to do frequent image updates.

I create websites using Dreamweaver and use its template tools to control which part of the page is editable. (Not to mention a quick way to update multiple pages at once!)

Sometimes the artist/client has his own website, other times he has a 'mini-website' on an arts organization's website.

Most of my designs include a thumbnail page and matching 'blow-up' pages. Sometimes the thumbnail page is in the form of a grid/table, other times it is in a frame to the left/top/bottom. I usually have the thumbnails sized at about 75 pixels wide/high and the enlarged images sized at about 500 pixels wide/high.

How easy will it be for my client(s) to update both the thumbnail and enlarged images in the environment described above? Will Dreamweaver's .dwt generated files cause a conflict?

Thanks for posting!

I have actually seen people update a photo gallery with thumbnails and full size images before so I know it is something that can be done. There will of course be a little extra setup needed, but I can help you with that.

There won’t be any trouble with Dreamweaver so don’t worry about that part. I think a fairly high percentage of Page Publisher users setup their pages with Dreamweaver then use Page Publisher to update them.

Sorry for hijacking your thread but I actually had the same question. First though, I should mention I recently purchased this product and it works great with dreamweaver files (even .dwt files). The tags are merely treated as comment tags by Dreamweaver so they don't interfere with anything and are easy to edit.

Ross, I am having the same problem - I'm trying to figure out a way to add that to the site I'm working on. I have lots of images of artworks and want them to link to another image which will be the enlarged version - what would be the best way to add in the enlarged image link so that my client could still edit it?

For something like this, I'd use the image_select PML tag. Here is a sample of what that code would look like:

So what this does is allows your users to upload and set the smaller thumbnail, and then set the URL to the larger image. The only drawback that I can see is that they will need to know the URL to the larger image, and it will have to have been previously uploaded.

This is how the Featured Client ZoomIn' Kids Photography is doing it in their portfolio section.

Give that a try and let me know if that is going to work for you.
