Prepurchase question on images/galleries Can't Post
Hello:
I have been forced at gunpoint to takeover and redo my clubs website. That means I am HTML challenged and looking for ways to simplify my life :)

I have already seen the PP benefits on general website updates. However, one of my main features on the website will be each member club will have thier own image directory. I know PP can be setup to upload images into a directory. What I would like is the ability to have the user create a directory and then be able to store specific images into it.
Example..

Racing club 1
../images <- I create at site setup
../images/dec car show <- created on fly and images added to it by user
../images/jan car show
etc. etc.

If they can do this I then have gallery software that can see the directories and creat thumbs and gallery/sub-galleries for the website.

Does PP have any ability to aid me here or am I going to need some type of wrapper script to create this sub directory first and then hand off to PP for upload?

If so then do you know of a script that already does this so I am not reinventing the wheel?

I was dragging my feet on purchsing PP but with the sale I am trying to make a decision now LOL!

Thanks for your email. :)

Unfortunately, Page Publisher doesn't have the ability to create new folders. When you add the PML tag to the page, it is hardcoded to the directory you want to upload to. So, you could do what you're looking for, but you would have to go in in advance and change the PML tag to point to the new (manually created) directory you were looking for.

However, it sounds like you have some gallery software already -- most gallery software also allows image uploading through the program, so you wouldn't need any external software at all.

Sorry it doesn't look like Page Publisher is the best solution here. But it's still a great product if you have other sections of the website that need updating by those who aren't necessarily HTML friendly! :)

Thanks for the help. I was afraid that was going to be the answer. In fact I do have other areas of the site that will depend heavily on PP but was hoping to have one product do it all :)
