Initial Setup pages aren't loading Can't Post

Hello

I just switched the domain name assigned to the hosting package I have. To do this I had to save my files (website and page publisher) and re load them to the server once the domain was reassigned. Everything transferred fine, all the files are there, and where they should be. When I go to the /pp/pp.cgi page I can get through a number of steps, however I cannot get through the set-up process without a page coming up:

The page you are looking for cannot be displayed because an invalid method (HTTP verb) was used to attempt access. HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed.

The strange part is it is a different point in the process that fails each time. On occasion I have made it through the agreement, and the image folder page. Sometimes I can't even get the agreement to come up. I just can't get it completed. Can you help?

Thanks

Re: [jigfresh] Initial Setup pages aren't loading [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there!

That's a pretty rare error, so I had to do a little googling to find the cause... and came up with this:

"405 errors often arise with the POST method. You may be trying to introduce some kind of input form on your Web site, but not all ISPs allow the POST method necessary to process the form.

All 405 errors can be traced to configuration of the Web server and security governing access to the content of the Web site, so should easily be explained by your ISP."

So, you'll want to contact your hosting provider and they should be able to set it up to allow Page Publisher to go through. To get more details about WHAT'S being blocked (ie, if it's the POST method, or something else) you should be able to get more details from your error log (if you don't have access to yours, your host can help you with that as well.)

I hope this helps. :)

Re: [Donna] Initial Setup pages aren't loading [In reply to] Can't Post

Your advise helped me fix it. Here is what I did.

Signed into my hosting admin, went into the "Advanced Features" section, then went into the "Web server & scripting" section, then seclected the option "Server options - including load balancing & scripting options", this gave me two options "Static website" & "Dynamic website (using scripts or MS FrontPage)" . I had been assigned to "static" so I changed to "dynamic". After 2-3 hours downtime switching servers the login page worked perfectly, first time.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
