Wanted - a cross between Job and News Manager!

I'm not sure how flexible Job Manager is. I have used News Manager before and I want a product which is a sort of cross between the two.
I am wanting to list a few products (I can't justify buying List Manager for this project). I like the fact that job manager has a category list at the top of the index page and bookmarks for the categories. I also like that there are preset fields although I would want to change what these fields say. Firstly, is this possible?
I like that news manager allows you to upload an image on the article pages. Is it possible to get job manager to do this?
