Job Manager listings Can't Post
Hi, the _index.html page in Job Manager has the relevant categories required to handle a clients site, however, the page is becoming rather long as the categories and subsequent entries grow. Is there any way to 'break down' the number of entries on the page? ... I had considered a search engine as mentioned in a previous post - this may still be an option - but I would like to see an engine built into the programme so we can 'fine tune' the search criteria in line with the data fields ie; ability to search by location, status etc.

Any suggestions appreciated ... Thanks.

Hi Druid,

I've been wracking my brains for a way to do this, but nothing's come to mind... besides getting a custom script to parse the published index file and limit the number of entries, I'm rather out of ideas. What did you have in mind with a search script?

Hi Ben,

I know - its a tough one ...

We also use Realty Manager, the built-in search engine is excellent as it allows us to fine tune the search criteria within the template, based on the database fields.

If we could implement something similar with Job Manager, it would remove the limitation of the _index file, going straight to the publish directory and bypassing the _index is probably the best solution.

Is it possible to create internal search that calls a combination of Placeholder variables such as:

$name$
$salary$
$status$
$location$

Your assistance is appreciated ...

Hi Mike,

No, unfortunately not. With Realty Manager the search.cgi script is equipped to handle something like this, but Job Manager simply doesn't have this search capabilities.

All I can really think of is using our Search Engine product alongside Job Manager, and rigging it up to only search the published files. This would work fine, but would require the purchase of a separate license.

Hi there Benjamin!!

Looking at this post and realised that what Mike requires is exactly what i'm looking for!! However i have purchased your search engine software and i believe it can't produce the output using the JM placeholder variables, $name$, $location, $salary$, etc - am i wrong?

Hi Nikki,

Thanks for the post.

You won't be able to search Job Manager placeholders with Search Engine as the placeholders that are in the templates are replaced with published content on the published job listing pages.

The Search Engine can search the published pages for any matching job keywords but not set to search specific fields such as name, location, salary,etc.

To search by specific field such as salary, location, name etc, Listings Manager would be a good solution. With its built in search engine it could be setup to return the results like this. Other sites have used Listings Manager this way.
