getting the homepage search files working Can't Post
Hi i hope that you can help - in recent weeks i have been talking with your Ross who has sent me the add on search_homepage files.

I am having a problem getting them to work, please advise if i have missed something out
  1. i unzipped files (3 files in total)
  2. i put the html files into the templates folder (_generic)
  3. i put the cgi file in the exec folder and changed the rights to 777
  4. opened ie and typed in the full path to the new script (in the same way that i do for the normal listing search - which works fine)
  5. instead of seeing a form i get this message in the browser "Invalid template name: _search_homepage_query.html "


please advise what i am missing, with kind regards

Hi Michael.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the board!

The homepage search addon was actually release before we combine Auto Manager and Listings Manager so it actually expects your templates to just be in the /templates folder instead of /templates/_industry.

Try moving the homepage search templates back in to the main template folder and having another go.

Hi Ross, following on from the earlier post

i have modified the form action part to reflect the full url - which then allows me to call the page direct rather than through a call to the cgi file. If the page is in the templates folder everything is good. the problem with this is that all of my other pages are one level up. when i move the file one level up it stops working - i think simply because it cannot find the search script (im thinking its going one up and down into the exec folder - so when i move it breaks the relationship) With me using css and dreamweaver library items maintaining 2 levels is going to cause me a real headache. Can you provide guidance to what i need to change so that I can move the search template into the same folder as the other pages. Please advise

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the post! Smile

Listings Manager's template files aren't actually designed to be referenced directly. From your description it sounds like you're looking at /templates/_search_homepage_query.html rather than linking to the search_homepage.cgi script. If I've misunderstood at all just let me know and I'll take another look at this for you.

If this is the case then I'd suggest trying looking directly at the search_homepage.cgi script to see if it works for you the way you had expected.

If it still doesn't work and you can provide me with a bit more detail as to what you were hoping to set up with your template files I'd be happy to have another look at this for you! Smile
