Question About Sorting Homepages Can't Post

Hi all,

I'm interested in sorting my homespages by latest activity such as to reward agents for updating their listings and adding new ones etc. Is there a way to do this with the current program?

Thanks for your help and have a great day,

David

I can't find anyway to do this except by having a date field as a homepage field to sorted by. I guess this question would be a suggestion for future upgrades.

Hi there.

Thanks for posting!

There is definitely a way to have your listings sorted by the last time they were updated and from the sounds of it, you are actually on the right track.

Basically, there is an internal field in Listings Manager that keeps track of when each listing was last updated. The way you access it is using the sort_by attribute in your search engine. Here's an example of a URL you can use to test things out with:

http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&sort_by=-10,123,reverse

Just swap in the path to your search engine and let me know if that's the result list you wanted to use. If it is, you can just link to that instead of your usual index page (make sure to update any link on your site/templates that goes to the old index page).

Either way though, let me know what you think Smile.

Re: [ross] Question About Sorting Homepages [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Ross,

I can sort the homepages by lastest homepage activity with your suggestion but I can't sort the homespages based on latest listing activity of the agents with your suggestion. It is not a big deal but I thought that would be the fairest way to sort agents rather than by last name or whatever.

Thanks for your suggestion,

David
