Secondary search ordering

Hi, I have a property website that's giving unusual ordering results. It's got a Residential section (for example) with this search string: search.cgi?search=1&perpage=8&template=multi_row2.html&sort_order=8,abc,forward&lfield2_keyword=Residential The sort_order=8 sorts on Sale Type (possible values: For Sale by Private Treaty, For Sale by Auction, For Sale by Tender,To Let,Letting Agreed,Sale Agreed,Sold) alphabetical, forward so we get the For Sale stuff displaying before the Sold. That sorting is fine, but it's the way the sorted results are displayed that's unusual - they don't seem to be secondarily ordered in a consistent way, whether it's id, date added, date modified or anything. The format in the .dat file is: 158¡1¡1211562965¡1223482356¡ Here's a sample from my search results, all these have the same (For Sale by Private Treaty) Sale Type, and I've decoded the Unix timestamps, think I'm labelling them right as date added and date modified: PropId: 158 | DateAdded: 05/23/08 | DateModified: 10/08/08 PropId: 159 | DateAdded: 05/28/08 | DateModified: 10/20/08 PropId: 15 | DateAdded: 07/09/08 | DateModified: 11/17/08 PropId: 160 | DateAdded: 06/03/08 | DateModified: 10/08/08 PropId: 162 | DateAdded: 06/16/08 | DateModified: 08/08/08 You can see there's no secondary ordering on id or date added or modified... Can anyone tell me how it's ordered after my specified Sale Type order? Thanks....
