Search URL - multiple keywords Can't Post

I'm trying to search listings for farms, acreages, and lots - all at one time. Right now I have the following URL, but something's not working.

http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&perpage=10&marknew=1&euro_numbers=0&lfield8_keyword=Farm&lfield8_keyword=Lot&lfield8_keyword=Acreage&shownew=&search=++Search+Listings++

I also tried $lfield8_keyword=Farm,Acreage,Lot but that didn't work either.

What am I missing?

Hi Robin,

Listings Manager can't do "or" searches, which is what you're going for. It only does straight keyword matches, so all three fields would need to exist for any results to be returned.

I hope this helps. :)

It won't do "and" searches? Such as returning any results for "farm" AND "acreage" AND "lot"? Or maybe that's basically the same thing as what you said earlier. Any suggestion as to how I could display results for all three at the same time? I could set up ONE field for Farms/Acreages/Lots in the listings manager instead of three separate choices.

Hi there,

Ah! Sorry, I misread -- yes, you should be able to search for all three at once...

However, I think you might have the wrong field number? I tried searching listing field 8 on your site for any of the three keywords alone, and they didn't show up either.

Re: [Donna] Search URL - multiple keywords [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry, that should actually be field 7. I have changed it on my templates. So is my link set up correctly in the above post? It reads:

http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&perpage=10&marknew=1&euro_numbers=0&lfield8_keyword=Farm&lfield8_keyword=Lot&lfield8_keyword=Acreage&shownew=&search=++Search+Listings++

If I change the field to field 7, then it should work correctly? I'm not sure if it's working right, but we don't have all of the acreages/farms listed yet so there truly might not be any in there right now. I'll give it another try if my link is okay.

Thanks!

Hi Robin,

Nope, the link won't be formatted quite like that. Can you add a listing that has all three options in it and let me know what the options are? With that, I can format a working link for you.

Donna:

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean when you ask if I can "format a listing with all three options in it". Right now the options for categorizing a property are in a dropdown menu where Acreage is one option, Farm is one option and Lot is another option.

Here is one listing that's in the db as an acreage:
http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/listman/listings/l0001.html

Here is the link that works to find JUST an acreage (but not Farms or Lots):
http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&lfield7_keyword=Acreage

If there's something else you're looking for, let me know.

Thanks for your help!!

And I'll also need to do this for my Residential Listings category, too. When you click on the listings link right now, it shows ALL properties. Instead, the Residential Real Estate link should include Single Family Home, Mobile Home, Duplex, and Other (but NOT farms and acreages). The second tab on our site (http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com) should have Acreage, Lot, and Farm included. Hopefully by seeing the link for Acreages, I'll be able to set up the proper link for the residential listings as well...

Hi Robin

Thanks for that sample link :).

That's what Donna was asking for more or less. The fact that you have that one working though means you are really close to having the other ones working.

Basically, all you'll need to do is change the last part in the link so it says one of your other kinds of listings. Like this:

http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&lfield7_keyword=Lots

http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&lfield7_keyword=Farms

Neither of those links return anything right now so I don't know if you actually have any listings for them. If you do, make sure that the word you put at the end of the link matches the value in your database.

Does that make sense? Once we get these ones working, we can have a look at your residential listings :).

Yes, I know I can return results of ONE category, but what I want is one link that returns all of the above together - Farms, Lots, AND Acreages. Is there a way to format the link so that it's not JUST farms, but all three? They are listed individually in a drop down on the listing setup side. (and no, I don't think we have any Lots or Farms listed right now, but there should be one acreage in the database.)

Hi Robin.

OK. I see what you are aiming for and unfortunately, no, there isn't a link you can use that will return all the listings from just those three categories.

Like Donna was saying, Listings Manager does "and" searching so the link would basically be saying,

display all listings that are acreages, farms and lots of land. Of course, none of your listings will be all three at the same time.

I have an idea though. You could build a page that uses includes to pull in three different result lists. You could have headers saying "Acreages", or "Land" or "Farms" and then under each heading would be a list of all that kind of listings.

Let me know if that would help.

That would definitely help. I think for the Acreage/Farm/Lots category, that would be a great fix since there won't be that many. If you can send me the instructions for the include, I'll put that in place right away.

As far as the residential, that might not work. Perhaps I should have a dropdown menu on our site that allows a person to view ONLY single family homes, ONLY duplexes, etc.

Hi.

The includes are going to look something like this:

<!--#include virtual="/listman/exec/search.cgi?search=1&lfield7_keyword=Acreage" -->

Basically, you are just taking those links we were working with before and chopping out the domain name.

Give that shot and let me know how you make out.

I like the idea of your drop down for the residential side of things. That's actually how I have setup sever sites in the past as well so I know something like that would work.

Keep me up to date :).

Re: [ross] Search URL - multiple keywords [In reply to] Can't Post

The includes seemed to be working when only one acreage was listed. Now that we've added a lot, the page in question (http://www.rossrealtycentralcity.com/acreage_farm_lot.shtml) is returning the following line where the lot should appear:

Template : Template cell 'row_noimage' is not defined!

I tried adding the following tags outside all three includes and I also tried adding them before and after each include, but that didn't do anything. Still seeing the noimage thing.

(these two lines are before the includes)
<!-- template insert : $list$ -->
<!-- templatecell : listing_image -->

(these three lines are after the includes)
<!-- /templatecell : listing_image -->
<!-- templatecell : listing_noimage -->
<!-- /templatecell : listing_noimage -->

Am I still missing something? What parts of the /templatecell code need to be in there when we're doing an include?

Sorry - I posted a bit too quickly - I was using listing_image instead of row_image. Online documentation lead me to the right answer! Thanks!
