Pre Sales Questions Can't Post

I would like to build a site like http://www.boatsales.com.au/

My questions are:

a) Would I be right in thinking that I would need your Listings Manager and your Article manager to produce something equivalent including articles of course.

It is likely to have many many pages as a result of the format in the above website.

If so what is needed to integrate the 2 systems together in terms of expertise and work, over and above purchasing the separate systems?

b) What sort of code do you use for Listings Manager and Article Manager?

Is it just HTML, as I notice you don`t use PHP and MySQL, Which I was told by someone I would need to build a similar website to boatsales.com.au, which looks untrue as your technology looks like it will do it?

I am basically needing to know to see what coding expertise I will need when I want to customise either system, extensively if necessary.

c) I have been warned that a large site with a large database will require a specific hosting company that will allow the maximum resources needed to run such a site like boatsales.com.au

Is this true and if so do you have someone you work with / recommend?

Thanks in advance as I am looking to move forward very quickly.

Thanks.

Hi Andy!

I think Dave went over all of your questions in your other thread -- do you still have further questions?

As he mentioned, for something like this, you'd want to take a look at CMS Builder. You wouldn't need any additional software after that. :)

Hi Donna,

thanks for your reply. Dave has answered a lot of the questions thank you.

Sorry there are different relevant questions appearing as I have gone through the forum :)

A couple of the questions that have not been answered so far, if its possible, thank you:

a) To customise the CMS builder myself would it PHP and MYSQL experience that would be needed or just HTML?

b) I have been warned that a large site with a large database will require a specific hosting company that will allow the maximum resources needed to run such a site like boatsales.com.au

Is this true and if so do you have someone you work with / recommend? Basically is there any minimum specifications I should be looking for from a hosting company to host such a website? Thanks.

Thanks Donna.

Andy

Hi Andy,

CMS Builder uses PHP & MySQL, but no programming experience is required. We do recommend that you have some experience hand-coding HTML, and it certainly won't hurt if you know PHP, but basically ... if you can move the HTML around and copy & paste the code from CMS Builder into the spots you want the dynamic content to appear, you should be fine. :)

Pretty much any host will work just fine. You can see the CMS Builder system requirements here:

I hope this helps. :)
