Listing permissions Can't Post

After using the RM for many many years on multiple sites lately we seem to be having an ongoing issue with listing file permissions. Currently I'm have a problem with 2 or 3 sites.

About a month ago, when a new listing was entered and you went to view the listing on the webpage you'd get a "You do not have permission to view this page" error in the browser. I then found the thread suggesting to go into the /exec/config.ini file and remove the "#" from unmask - 000. I did this and it worked like a charm - listings were now uploading properly and everyone was happy.

About 2 days ago I've started having the same problem on 2 domains (that I've heard about) where they are getting the forbidden page again. I went in and the "#" is removed in the config.ini file.

Any other suggestions?

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. :)

Is changing the umask working on this site?

One other thing you might need to do is go in and change the permissions on the existing files. "644" should be good, and once the umask is set, any new files created should be fine.

Re: [Donna] Listing permissions [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for the reply Donna.

The unmask did fix the problem a month ago, It's now doing the same thing giving me a "don't have permission page" when we upload new listings.

I did go in and set the permissions of the listings individually to 644 and then they will appear fine.

Any other ideas?

Hi there,

Sounds like your host may be overriding the umask options -- you might want to drop them an email to see if there's something they can do for you.

Alternately, try filling in a support request, and we can check into it for you as well. (Although the result may be the same -- talk to the hosting provider.)
