Licence transfer - new domain Can't Post

Dear Sirs,

Our client is moving to a new ISP and has a new (different) domain name but wishes to take his existing site with him to the new ISP. Can we simply download the whole site and then upload it to the new site and change the url setting in the back end under license info?

The old site would be deleted.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

Hi,

Thanks for the post!

Yes, what you've described here should work quite well. You can download the files to your computer from the existing server so you have a back up, and then upload those files to the new server.

The next step will be to set permissions again for Listings Manager's files:

http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/doc.cgi?/listingsmanager/doc_page5.html

After that, you'll be able to login to Listings Manager and as you mentioned you can tweak the paths and URLs to point to the new server.

I hope this helps! Smile

Re: [MikeB] Licence transfer - new domain [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm trying to move LM from one domain to another, but I can't seem to access the new Admin page, instead getting at 403 Forbidden error. My paths all seem to be correct. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Our old site was fredwilliamslist.com. Our new site is westsidebuynsell.com. I can provide FTP info via email if it would help.

Thanks!

Hi

Thanks for posting!

A 403 error typically means permisisons. Could you double check that your admin.cgi and search.cgi scrips both have "755" permissions.

If that doesn't get you going again, we'll likely need to get in there and have a closer look. For that, you'll want to send through a support request:

Thanks!

Yep... it was the permissions. Thanks!
