Installation - CHMOD settings Can't Post

Hello, in the process of installing Reality Manager and have a question about CHMOD settings. Can someone please tell me what the *.* in /listman/exec/*.* actually is? i.e. does it mean change the CHMOD in all the files in the exec directory to 755. Same applies to some other directories i.e. /data/*.*

I have experienced an error message in the installation after defining industry type Reality. Page returns

Template : Template cell 'file_noexec' is not defined!

I am thinking it may be caused by the file permissions not being set correctly, as above.

Hi there!

"*" is a wildcard. So, *.* means all files. :) (Whereas *.cgi would mean all files that end in .cgi, and *.html would be all files that end in .html.)

You're right -- that's a permissions error.

I hope this helps. :)

Donna, thanks for your reply.

It worked and managed to install application. However, there was a permission error when trying to view the listing and other front end pages. Just in case anyone has this issue, it was caused by my Hosting Supplier not allowing CHMOD 777. Their servers have been configured to process these as 755. System is now performing as is.

Hi.

Thanks for the heads up. Sometimes servers do things a little different than one another. For the most part, text files like .html, .shtml, etc run with "644" permissions and scripts like Realty Manager (things ending in .cgi or .pl) run with "755". I am glad you go things going though.

Keep us up to date with how you are making out :).
