Can sort be used? Can't Post
Hello, site is about to go live but have one last question. On the install instructions, it says that sorting should not be used on more than 100 records. Does this still stand? I will probably have over 500 listings at any one time and would like to sort, _search_results (don't use _publish_listing_index), by most recent listing first.

Hi there,

That's actually just the internal sorting. Sorting via the search results can be used no problem. :) Give it a try, it should run just fine.

Donna, don't suppose you have the code for sorting results by most recently added first?

I tried the following hidden code (line 5) in the form but is still sorting by lfield1;

<input type="hidden" name="sort_order" value="-11,123,reverse">

Hi there,

Sorting field "-11" should definitely do it. Can you sort by any other field? If not, try flipping that "sort" tag in the admin interface to "yes" and try again.

Thanks for that. It didn't work on any fields. I have now ticked the Enable database sorting in admin and seems to be ok now. However, my database is likely to have in access of 500 listings. The system says not to enable sorting if over 100 listings. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about it -- it's possible that it'll run a little slower with over 100 listings, but test it out and if it's running fine... you're good to go! :)
