Multiple physical locations Can't Post

I'm quoting an auto dealership that has 3 physical locations. They want to know if it is possible to set up the users so that 1 user can only add/edit/delete listings to one of the physical locations while a different user can post to a second location and the third user can post to yet a third location.

I understand that we will need 3 different licenses since they have 3 different domain names, but I'm trying to figure out whether or not we need 3 installations of the script or not. They don't want the 3 administrators to have the ability to edit or delete each other's listings.

Advice???

Hi there,

Since the installations are all on different sites, you would need a separate installation for each one. Also, since you don't want the administrators to have permissions over the other locations listings, you'd want to have separate installations anyway -- administrators can access all listings. (Regular users can definitely be limited to modifying their own listings, but if they're on different domains, you need the different installations anyway.)

I hope this helps. :)

We could set everything up under one domain name, but from what I understand you to be saying, I will need 3 different installations regardless since the administrators are able to edit all listings regardless.

If we use a single domain name, is what I'm asking possible then? With CMS Builder, I can set it up so that users can only edit/delete what they've listed. Is that not possible with the Listing Program? I was thinking it might be since they're all based on the same code, but set me straight as needed.

Hi there,

With a single domain name, then yes, absolutely. Your users wouldn't be setup as administrators, they'd be setup as regular users. Then they would only have access to the listings they'd created. I think we might be confused on the term "administrator" -- Administrator is a level of account in CMS Builder/Instant Websites... and those always have full access. However, if you're just referring to an internal site administrator who would only have a regular User account, then yeah, that works just fine. :)

The Instant products ARE CMS Builder -- there's absolutely no difference (other than us pre-configuring things), so anything you're used to there, is exactly the same with the Instant products. :)
