menu modification Can't Post

hello there

i have a document with a lot of sections and sub-sections.

to keep the navigation menu concise i want to be able to modify the menu so that when i click on one top level item anything else that was open closes. thus the menu will only be a long as the main section headings plus whatever one is open at any time.

anybody have any clues on how to do this?

i was thinking of using the toggleAll(0) function to collapse everything when something is selected but am not sure where to put this function call. it also seems like a bit of a crude hack even if i could get it to work!

as i'm not really a javascript programmer any advice would be appreciated.

many thanks

graham

Hi Graham,

Thanks for your post. :)

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with JavaScript to be able to offer much assistance on modifying the DHTML menus in DocBuilder.

However, it's a pretty standard script -- not specific to DocBuilder -- so you may be able to find help on some JavaScript/DHTML specific boards where you may find people who are more proficient in JavaScript than I am. :)

I hope this helps!

Donna

thanks donna

looks like i'm going to have to learn a bit of javascript then!

is there any documentation available from whoever built doc builder regarding each of the javascript functions and their variables?

that might be a good kicking off point for me and once i figured it out i'd be happy to share with everyone else :-)

Hi Graham,

Unfortunately there isn't any documentation available for DocBuilder that details the JavaScript functions and variables used for the menus. The DocBuilder online documentation (http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/docbuilder/) basically just covers installing and using the program, working with the templates, etc.
