Problems with htmlArea in MIE 5.5

I'm using htmlArea in both DocBuilder and AM. It works perfectly on my PC at home running IE 6.0. However, on my PC at work, running IE 5.5 on Windows NT, it has serious problems. When I first click to create a new document or article, or to modify an existing doc/article, the page loads excruciatingly slow, and none of the icons are visible. In the status line in the lower left corner of the browser, it appears that the page is still trying to open for many, many minutes and will give the message, for example, "18 items remaining." Sometimes, if I wait long enough, the page will appear to have been finally loaded, but all the icons (to identify the buttons for bold, italics, hyperlink, etc.) are just broken links. Short of upgrading IE, which I'm not permitted to do on the work PC, does anyone have any ideas (perhaps in browser settings) that will rectify this? I have the same problem using the AM demo on the IT site, so it's not related to my installations of htmlArea. Susan
