Multiple Directories Can't Post
I am posting a manual with a lot of chapters (30+) with lots of articles in each chapter. I am concerned about the ability of DocBuilder to handle this volume in one expandable menu.

Can I set this up so that I have a different document group for each chapter and still have a useable interface?

For example, I am at a document in Chapter One that refers to a document in Chapter Five. Can I link to it and have a new set of links? The way it looks now is that I can display the Chapter Five article while in Chapter One but will have the Chapter One links showing or I could have a whole new browser window with just Chapter Five and then I end up with two browsers open and as I go through the document could have many more and then end up with a confused and lost user.

Any suggestions?

Hi lineangle,

With so many chapters, coming up with some sort of coherent way to tie it all together could be tricky. This is very much a design problem. One solution would be to have links within each document group (i.e. chapter) to every other one, so the user could just click from one chapter to the next.

In your example, when you click to the document in Chapter 5 from Chapter 1, is this for reference? Are they just going to glance at chapter 5, then return to the previous? If so, you might be able to get away with having it appear in a popup. Another thing you could consider is including some simple "<< back" links in your pages so that the user can always click back to whatever page they were previously.

But provided there are some clear links to the various chapters, I think that that would greatly help reduce confusion.
