preventing users from adding articles to a category Can't Post

This may be a stupid question, but I haven't ever tried this out so I was curious if someone knew the answer before I did anything idiotic and lost all of my articles.

Let's say you have a category for the year 2006 and it contains 1000 articles. Beginning in 2007 you create a new category and don't want anyone to add articles to the 2006 category anymore. Then you modify the 2006 category and check the box stating that no articles can be added to it.

Will your articles in 2006 will become unpublished? Or does it just prevent articles from being added to it from that point on? Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. :)

What you're describing will work just fine -- check the "Don't allow users to add new articles to this category" box, and it will simply remove the ability to add new articles to this category, but all of the old articles will stay there. It will be listed as "Locked" in your category list.
