newbie: A very basic question, please Can't Post

Dear All,

This is my first Article Manager 2 purchase.

I find that in Admin Panel, there are settings by which one can add or modify various fields of "Articles".

I deleted several of these fields like "Author", "Content" and added new ones like "Languages", "Birth" etc. After saving these new settings, and then creating a new article, I do not find these new fields becoming visible in the article.

Do I need to change the Templates to view the article as per these new fields? And how do I know which template to change.

Best,

Just to jump in here. The answer is Yes you just need to add the new fields to the article template.

The code for a field named Birth would be $article.Birth$ and language would be $article.language$

Hope this gets you going
Kind Regards

Hi there.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the board!

As George mentioned (thanks George), you'll need to add what's called a placeholder to your article template so that the value from your article field appears on the page.

As you are creating the new field, you'll actually fill out a field called Field Name. You'll need to make a note of this because that's what the placeholder is going to be based on. Let's pretend that your field is called myCustomField

Now, to have that field appear on your template you just add this where the value needs to appear:

$article.myCustomField$

That should be it. Remember to republish your articles after making a template change like this. Could you have a go at it and let me know how you make out?

I look forward to hearing from you Smile.
