index being created by wrong publishing rule Can't Post

Hi,
I have an issue that is probably specific to my site, but I can't figure out how to fix it. It's been happening for a while, but I just recently was able to track down what happens.

I have two different rules, with different templates, to publish my category indexes. The filename and placeholder for both rules is the same. Rule A is supposed to publish the index for Category 1. However, when Rule B is published, it overwrites that index file for Category 1, even though Category 1 is clearly not "included" in the list of categories!

I've checked the publishing rule in my database; Rule B *does not* have Category 1 listed. I've looked at the database entry for Category 1 and can't find any anomaly.

By chance, the category.num for Category 1 is "1". I.e., it is the very first category I ever created.

Any ideas?

Hi Terri,

Do you have "Include subcategories" checked off on either rule? If so, uncheck that, and it should fix it up. :)

Wow! I think that fixed it! I would have never thought of that...the category is a top-level one. Interesting!

Many thanks, Donna :)
