featured author in admin question Can't Post

We have the "checkbox for featured" off, because it was just totally abused.

However, I'm wondering something...

we have a "guest" log in to allow people to submit without actually registering...

and I am having a group of authors with their *own* log ins (i.e., featured authors only).

In the admin > articles panel, I can sort by category, and I can sort by pending/visible hidden.

What I'm wondering, is, would there be a way to sort by author - i.e., featured author submissions are always "on top" (at the top, first in the submissions?) so that they always get priority approval?

Hi Amber,

I can think of a few things. You could sort by user number (although this would only work if your guest account was either the lowest or the higest number) or by "Author" field.

Take a look at the global index (and/or category index) publish rule, and you can see the various sort options at the bottom. Would one of those work for you? (The user number would be the createdbyUserNum field listed.)

Hi Donna,

We were looking at this - by category / with the createdbyUserNum as you said.

My question:

Is there a way to sort this *ONLY* in the admin, but not on the site?

(I'm doing it a different way on the site so it really doesn't matter there).

Hi Amber,

You can modify the default sorting by going to Admin > Database Editor > Table Editor for the Articles Database, but this will also change the default sorting for the live site.

To get around that, you'd need to specify custom sorting for each publish rule so that you can sort things the way you want on your site as well.

Does that make sense? Let me know if that works for you. :)
