error message Can't Post

I am moving my article manager to a new server that the client runs themselves and am trying to test whether artman will work on their systems - worked fine on the old server.

I am getting this error message

Error: Couldn't rename file! Permission denied at c:/inetpub/wwwroot/artman2/modules//IT/FreezeThaw.pm line 79.

They swear that all permissions are set as per instructions

Can anyone help?

(They have a windows server)

Re: [mdb] error message [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there!

Does it specify what file it can't rename? Usually it should have a little more detail as to where it's trying to write to.

That said, it's probably the files within the /data/ directory, as this is the main place it wants to write to first. Doublecheck that the user that Perl runs as (usually IUSR_SERVERNAME) has full permissions. If you're still having trouble, fill in a support request, and we can run a test script that narrows down the problem separately from Article Manager. :)

Donna

Thanks - my host changed some permissions and now I have installed the program successfully (so I thought)

but when trying to put a test article up (I have not done anything else) I get this message:

The server timed out and was unable to complete publishing.
The last status message was: Error: Couldn't create 'c:/inetpub/wwwroot/artman2/publish/world' : No such file or directory at c:/inetpub/wwwroot/artman2/modules//IT/ArtMan/CustomMenus/Publish.pm line 415.

Is this still a permission thing.?

I am just trying to publish a test page at the moment so the existing site is not interrupted so I cannot publish to the root directory.

I can't even work out what is supposed to be the "home page" of the test site.

That could be permissions, but more likely it looks like the paths are wrong. Doublecheck in the Admin -> Server page that all of the paths are set correctly. :)

Hi mdb,

Well, it'll be different depending on each server. :) If you're not sure what your paths are, feel free to fill in a support request and we can check 'em for you.
