Photo Gallery Can't Post
I read the tutorial concerning how to create a gallery within an article page. I did this and it works fine Smile

However, I'd like to improve it just a bit. I would like to have numerous photos within an article gallery. To conserve space I would like the article to include relatively small thumbnails of the uploaded images (current implementation displays full size photos). If the user clicks on a thumbnail, I would like a new browser window to open with a full size version of the photo. This behavior is already occuring in the tutorial version of the code i.e. if you click an image, a new broser window is opened containing the clicked photo. However, the article does not have thumbnails, it has full size versions of the photos so when you click one of them you get the exact same picture in the new browser instance as you do in the article.

Do-able?

Hi there!

Actually, this is already how the gallery works -- it's using the thumbnail image automatically created by Article Manager. Note that if you do not have ImageMagick or GD on your server, thumbnails cannot be used.

If you'd like, you can fill in a support request and we can take a look at your site and see why it's not using thumbnails. :)

Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the tip. I checked the Admin panel which indicated no thumbnail capability on my server so I assume thumbnails are not supported. FYI - site is hosted by Network Solutions.

That being said, I resort to my original question. Can I essentially create the same effect by uploading thumbnail size images for the article page and if a user clicks on the thumbnail, display a larger version in a separate browser window?

Yes, upload the large image first and make sure not linked is selected, then upload the thumbnail and link it to the url of the large image and tick new window. To get the url, right click on the large image in the upload window and select copy link location (firefox), can't remember what it is in IE. Wink

Awesome! Your suggestion pointed me in the right direction. I had to do some fix-ups to the template. The original tutorial on how to include a photo gallery in an article page doesn't account for 1) the use of links in this fashion or 2) the use of "open in new window" checkbox. Both were easy mods to the template and it's working great - EXACTLY what I was looking for!! Thanks-
