New to AM2 - a few questions Can't Post
hi there,

i recently started a redesign for my homepage and wanted to try out a new newsprogramm (am2 ^^).

to start off, i had a few difficulties with my host, seeing as they didnt allow perl on their servers. for now, they gave us a seperate server so we could try it out, but that has already given us a few problems.

atm, i can only accees my site via a different adress than the article manager interface.

as u can see on the site link, it doesnt display the news correctly, but only place holders.
to get to this stage, i downloaded the templates and integrated them into my index.php
first q: was that even the right way to do it ?
2nd q: if so, why doesnt it display stuff correctly ?

i copied the code from /templates/articleLists/globalindex.html
3rd q: i figure that shows all news ?! what if i only want to display a certain category ?

i hope some1 can find the time to help me with this, would b really appreciated.

Hi there,

I'm a little confused about your setup -- you're trying to run Article Manager on a different server? So, it's not able to publish to your regular site?

Article Manager can generally only publish to the server it's installed on. I think it might be easier if we go straight to a support request so I can see how your server is setup:

to start with, its all on the same server.
and the problem is i can't get the generated view from ur tutorial to display.

the structur of the server is the following:

web89u6 (webroot) / html / page / news.php (thats the page i copied the template code into and thats shown on my frontpage (while included in the index.php thats located in the html-folder)
html / cgi-bin / artman...
html / artman / ...

i hope this helps abit

so i solved this problem in another way by simply making an include for the /publish/index.html

now i got a new question tho.

how do i only get news from a certain category to show?
and
how do i limit the number of news shown per page ?

Hi there,

To modify what shows up on the main index page, you can edit the Global Index publish rule. You'll find this in Admin > Publishing.

Here, you can filter what categories appear, and limit how many articles show up on a page. :)
