Multiple Thumbnail Sizes Can't Post
Hi - Just wondering if it's possible to have 2 different thumbnail sizes created by AM2?

Hi David,

Thanks for the post!

Article Manager will not make two different thumbnail image sizes for you, however there are a few options that I have in mind that could work for you! What you might want to do is provide me with a few more details on how you would like to make use of the two different thumbnail image sizes. Once I have a better understanding of your needs I will be happy to help guide you in the right direction. :)

Thanks Chet - Basically I need the system to generate two thumbnail sizes instead of just one. So I'll have three images when the user adds a photo to an article.

I don't need it to be an option in the admin area, I'm happy even if it's just a hack on the back-end.

Thanks for the follow-up and the extra details!

I had initially been thinking that creating a new field for the third image would be a solution that may work for you, however it sounds like you are hoping to have these three thumbnail images created on the fly by Article Manager. Article Manager at this time is not set-up to create more than one thumbnail image on the fly. :)

However there may still be a solution that will work for you, could you provide me with more details on how you are planning to use the three images? Perhaps even a link to a website that is doing something similar to what you are hoping to set-up, once I have a better understanding of how you would like things to work I will be happy to help guide you in the best direction. :)

Not sure if this will help but checkout my post concerning Photo Gallery. My server does not support thumbnails so I had to essentially create my own. It was pretty straight forward. Seems like you could start with what I did. I followed the instructions on the posted tutorial to create a gallery within the article. I updload the large target files using the standard image upload capability already included in the standard AM2 product. I then upload the thumbnails to the gallery, linking them back to the larger files. If you were to add, say a thumbnail in addition to a gallery field you would be able to upload two different size photos for thumbnails, and then link them both back to the larger file.

I hope this makes sense. In my post, I noted that the original tutorial mods to the template do not take into account linking in this fashion (or the use of opening the file in a new browser instance chack box). It's a simple fix (even for a novice like me) - happy to provide the template code if you need it. Good luck!
