Moving to a new server Can't Post

Hi

I'm ready to move a license of AM2 to a new server. I'm not using a MySQL database. Is it just a matter of uploading all the files and folders from the old server to the new one? Because the various folder paths won't match, could I just edit these in the /data/settings.dat.cgi before uploading to the new server?

Also, while in the process of moving, it would be preferable to have the site live on the old server until it is ready on the new server. Is this OK?

Hi Harald,

Basically yes. Although I wouldn't recommend editing the settings file... just copy everything over, then log into Article Manager and update the server paths directly there. You'll get some error messages while you're switching them over, but once the paths are updated those will go away. :)

You can have two installations up & running temporarily while doing the switch, but make sure you delete the old one as soon as you're done.
