MYSQL Query Help Can't Post

Hello,

I am in the process of integrating & automating FrontPage Slide Show with article manager 2. I was wondering if anyone can help me with some sql query coding. Btw...I am not a programmer.

I have created a category called slideshow. Whenever articles are posted on my site, if I want them to show up on the front page slide show, I would just add them to the 'slideshow' category.

In the db, AM2 is separated into 4 tables. Account, Articles, Categories, Published Rules.

I have figured out how to pull info from a single table to be displayed on my website. But I need to define the single 'slideshow' category. Only if articles are part of this category, then pull the title, date, image, etc.

Is this possible, and if so, would anyone kindly help?

Hi there,

That's a little beyond what we can help with via support, although there are other ways that what you're trying to do could probably be done without resorting to hitting up the database directly?

Is there any reason you couldn't simply create a new publish rule that pulls in the photos from the articles in your slideshow category?

Re: [Donna] MYSQL Query Help [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your help. I apologize as I wasn't clear in my previous thread.

I wanted to dynamically integrate a 3rd party slide show application to pull from Article Manager. I only wanted those articles that I chose to be shown in the front page gallery.

This is what I wanted to accomplish. You can see the test file here: http://www.illumemagazine.org/test/

Hi there.

Working with 3rd party scripts like that isn't really going to be something we can support. We are experts with our own software :).

Now, having said that, there is a script that we've worked with enough times to be fairly familiar with. You can check out out here:

Click on one of the links under "Slideshow" to see what I am talking about.

If that looks like it might work for you, we can get that setup through consulting for you. Let me know what you think and we'll go from there. Thanks!
