Lost Featured Article Option: How to re-enable it

This is probably an easy one
In AM1, (prior to upgrading) I disabled the featured article feature (which displays that article first).
Now I have the need to re-enable it.
In admin-> database editor- > bs_articles article Default Sort Fields all I have listed is -date
if i remember correctly, there should be artfield_20
I dont see any mention of "featured article" in placeholders, or database/articles, and i'm not sure if the correct placeholder is even in my template. I'm hesitant on attempting to re-add it because I can't remember exactly what needs to be done.
any help is appreciated.
