How to get sub categories to only show on specific category pages Can't Post

I am looking to add sub categories without cluttering up my globalindex and other topic Index pages. I would like subcategories to display only on the parent category index in which they belong to, and on other sub categories under the same parent.

For instance. If my global index had 3 categories it would look like this

Cars
Boats
Mopeds

If I add 2 sub category's under cars called (corvettes, and Mazda's) the global index will currently appear like this:

Cars
-Corvettes
-Mazda's
Boats
Mopeds

I would like the 2 subcategories to only appear on the Cars, Corvettes, and Mazda's category Indexes, and not on the Global index, Boats, and Mopeds Category indexes.

Is there a relatively simple way to accomplish this?

Thanks

This can be done easily. Just select the "Custom" option all the way at the bottom for your Category Menus publishing rule.

The options should be:

Show 1 level of subcategories from root
Show 3 levels of subcategories below selected category (3 can be any number of categories deep you want)
Show parents only above selected category
Show selected category
