How are archives handled and where's docs? Can't Post

This is good stuff, the wait is over! Thank you!

Questions:

How does it handle archived articles?

I don't see link to documentation/user manual anywhere, I assume it is still being worked out?

Cool

Archives articles are imported into the main article database. So if you have lots of articles and archives you're going to want to be sure to switch to mysql before upgrading/importing.

The docs are here:
http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/articlemanager2/

There's some content there already on installation, upgrading, and the template system and more will be added tomorrow and ongoing based on what questions we get from the community.

If you want to get an idea of just how powerful artman2 is, have a look through the template docs. There's an amazing amount of things you can do with the system and it's one of the easiest to use template systems I've seen considering how powerful it is.

Thanks Dave.

When you say "convert the templates" what does it exactly do? Just replace old placeholders with new ones? Does it change the formt/html/design of the template?

Basically it does the best job it can to make your old templates work with the new system and look exactly the same.

So it does change the template filenames, placeholder names, placeholder modifiers, templatecells, etc. but it shouldn't modify the design much if at all.

It imports the three default template sets from artman1 perfectly (and numerous other sites we've tested) but if you've got a really advanced site you might need to do a little tweaking by hand.

The key thing to know is this time you upgrade into a different folder and your original artman is left untouched. It copies your templates so you can safety upgrade and have lots of time to test and experiment without risking breaking your current artman1 setup.
