How Does AM Compare to Joomla? Can't Post
I'm a real novice to AM and the whole CMS field. I cannot write any code including HTML. But I'm not totally hopeless either. I built several websites using a template system called SiteStudio that is offered by some hosting packages and found it really easy to use. But it is not designed for articles. I've just purchased AM and am excited about using it. I read some of the posts here in the Forum and was a bit scared by the technicality. I've tried to use Joomla (a free CMS) but found it difficult. Can those of you who are experts in CMS in general tell me if AM is easier than Joomla? I imagine there are many other advantages to it over Joomla to justify paying for it over using Joomla.

Hi there.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the board!

First off, I haven't actually used Joomla myself so I am going to hold off on any direct comparisons but I have heard so experiences from other people.

While Article Manager has all sorts of fancy bells and whistles that are going to let you do just about anything you like on your website all of these features are going to be really simple to use.

Because the whole system is web based, you'll be accessing everything through a web browser. Creating new articles is just like filling out a form online (pretty much the same as creating a new post on this form). Files can be uploaded right through the web browser and there will be a rich text editor for creating the actual content so you can bold, underline, etc your text without having to dig around in the HTML.

Now, the second part of Article Manager is going to be its templates. All the pages that get created for you will be based on HTML templates so you'll be able to customize these to have all Article Manager content fit seamlessly into an existing site, or take on any look and feel that you like.

That brings us to my favorite part. Your Article Manager license comes with free lifetime support. Our office is open 7 days a week so there is someone here every day to lend a hand. Basically, we are going to be here every step of the way to make sure you fully understand how to use everything and get your site setup exactly the way you wanted.

I never used article manager or Joomla prior to purchasing Am 1.4 about 5 months ago, and I can atest to the superior customer support offered by Interactive tools. When they say life time support, they really mean it.

This is an extremely powerful system that has accomplised everything we needed, from simple categorization of article items to advanced modifications and customizations. No matter what issue we have had, there has always been a solution that we found, either through testing ourselves or asking support for help. As a side note, I can't remember a time that a support request in these forums went unanswered for over 1 business day -- that' solid turnaround.

Personally, I will never use another article management tool. AM rocks.

IMHO, Article Manager and Joomla (formerly Mambo) are two different things and cannot really be compared.

But, for the record, I have tested Joomla/Mambo and found that I could not use it for what I wanted to, which was create a news site.

I guess it depends on what you want to do, but if you are looking for something to create a news/article site, I would go with Article Manager.
