Home page name Can't Post

Hi

I am not sure whether I have done something wrong

I have a site which uses this name as the homepage

http://www.sitename.org.au/

not needing any index.shtml - so nice and clean

I have just loaded a new site and while I can get to it using this address

http://www.sitename2.org

it defaults to

http://www.sitename2.org/index.shtml

because I had to use a re-direct off the index.html, otherwise it would not show up. (without the re-direct when I type in http://www.sitename2.org I get a page not found error)

I followed the tutorial on setting my front page, so I am not sure if this is a server thing or I am missing something. I don't like having to resort to the redirect to get to my homepage.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi Margaret!

Ask your host to add "index.shtml" as one of the default index pages for your site, and it'll show up. :)
