Global Index URL Can't Post

Hi

I've just updated to v 2.02 and run a publish all routine.

Now the 'homepage' link in the global menu is not pointing to the correct page. (ie it no longer points to index.shtml in the main publish directory)

It points to a file called topstory.shtml that I created to assist this discussion:
http://www.interactivetools.com/iforum/Products_C2/Article_Manager_2_F31/Top_Story_P50628

Where can I override this setting and make the menu point to the correct homepage index.shtml??

Hi,

Thanks for the post!

You may want to double-check your categoryMenu.html template file to see where it is linking to. To do this follow the steps below:

1. Login to your server and navigate to the /templates/categoryMenus/ directory, inside this directory look for the categoryMenu.html template file.

2. Open this file and look for the following bit of code:

Code
<a href="$published.globalIndex.url$">$my.homepageName$</a>

3. Does your categoryMenu.html template file use:

href="$published.globalIndex.url$"

If not you will want to change this template so that it does use the $published.globalIndex.url$ placeholder. After making these changes re-upload your categoryMenu.html template file back into the /templates/categoryMenus/ directory. The last step will be re-publishing your "Global Menu" and "Category Menus" publishing rules. :)

Give this a try? And if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

Yes it has the correct placeholder.

It was working OK until yesterday, I haven't changed that template at all.

I noticed the change after I upgraded to AM 2.02

Just previous to that I created a new rule and template to configure the 'Top Story' in my global index.

The page this new rule creates is called topstory.shtml and that is now what AM2 is treating as the index page. The file called index.shtml still exists and is still being updated as normal

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the extra information!

From the sounds of it this issue is a result of how your "Top Story" publish rule is set-up, if you would like to send me your ftp and Article Manager login details I will be happy to take a closer look at this for you. :)

You can fill out a support request with these details here:

https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi

Once I have these deetails I will be happy to lend you a hand Simon!

Re: [ChetW] Global Index URL [In reply to] Can't Post

I've fixed this (I got no response from the support email)

I had to change the details for: "Placeholder Set Name" if I used 'globalIndex' it screwed up the homepage link. If I used 'globalMenu' it screwed up the rest of the menu.

I eventually found that using 'articlepage' worked OK
