DBD;;mysql Can't Post

Since I have close to 5000 articles between the active and archives - I have to use SQL to upgrade. Two issues:

(1) My host is using an older version of DBD::mysql (2.0419)

and more importantly

(2) THey say it's my responsibility to upgrade it. OK - I'm willing to give that a shot, but...

I've never done this kind of thing before - can anybody point me to a tutorial on this? My host doesn't have the upgraded version on their servers, so I have to get that too.

Ugh. That's the reason I switched from dedicated back to shared hosting. I was sick of doing all that stuff myself.

If you're considering switching hosts, try Dreamhost.com . I've used them for a year and they've been wonderful so far.

Well - I'm on a shared hosting service with "Interland" - now - "Web something or the other" - but with one added feature "root access." Unfortunately, since their recent merger - it seems everything but web access is optional! They USED to do alot of things like this - but now? Sorry, that's not covered ;-(

I've just taken at look at "Dreamhost" looks very interesting and MUCH cheaper. When/if I have the time to move - maybe I will. Thanks for the recommendation.

Before applying, shop around for Dreamhost coupons. I found a $50 coupon online through Google, paid for a year upfront with their $7.95 option and saved some good bucks!
