Backup AM2 Can't Post

Hi,
After spending a good two days setting up my website, its just about finished and I'm really pleased with it!

Just a quick question though - how do I back it all up? I'm guessing I just use regular FTP to back all the files and cgi-bin up, but how to I back the database up - is it through my webhosts control panel or is there another way?

thanks

Hi there!

There are two ways to back up the database, either one will work equally well.

The first is to use a MySQL control panel (such as phpMyAdmin) and grab a copy of it there.

Alternately, you can simply save it as a flatfile database (even just for a few minutes while you make the backup) and then download the /data/ directory.

Either way, you'll want to grab the following directories:

/data/
/templates/
/uploads/
config.ini

...and any files that have been modified. Note that you do not need the publish directory, as this will be created based on the information in the templates & the database.

I hope this helps. :)

Re: [Donna] Backup AM2 [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Donna,
Thanks for the reply.

Is the default for AM2 to use MySQL? Its just that I've looked in my web hosts control panel and it doesnt think I have any SQL databases?

Under database editor, database type it says 'file'. Does this mean I have a flat-file database already? In which case I just need to download the /data/ folder to have a backup of the database?

thanks

Hi there!

That's right -- if you're not using MySQL, then it's using flatfile. You can back this up with the /data/ directory. :)
