Article Comments and SEO Can't Post

I'm looking for some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tips here.

My AM2 article pages are all ranked #1 or #2 for my targeted keywords. Now, I would like to add some user interactivity by allowing visitors to comment on my articles (yes,I will use nofollow, and an aggressive antispam system with comment moderation).

I was wondering if anyone has experience with adding comments to your articles and then noticing if the search engine rankings of those pages have been affected? I'm looking at a number of different tricks that could prevent the comments from affecting my rankings (ex: javascript, iframe) but I'm wondering if someone that has had experience with this issue, could please tell me their experience?

I've actually noticed the opposite -- posts with comments (or in other words, more frequent updates) tend to get ranked higher. Google especially likes frequently updated pages. :)
