Admin templates and encoding problem Can't Post
Hi

I'm trying to create couple of placeholders that I will use throughout my website but every time I enter non-english letters and save the placeholder, the non-english letters change to @#$@#%@ etc. I need to know how I can change the encoding of the admin templates.....which template in the cgi-bin/template folder should I change and where should I place the meta tag?

Hey, Maksim, thanks for posting.

The header of the interface is generated by templates/admin/menus/_wrapper.html, so you should be able to add your tags there - that will affect the whole interface.

Note that when you make interface changes, you might want to log them somewhere in case you ever need to overwrite that file in the future when upgrading. Also, we may ask you to revert to the default templates if we're trying to track down a support issue.

When I change default charset encoding (line 46 in _wrapper.html) I get this error:

What could be the problem. I tried different ways of inserting my encoding (windows-1250) but it never works. I tried both meta tag and the method above and no luck.

To clarify. I do not want to "translate" the interface I just want to have properly displayed text on my website when I use placeholders. If I enter non-english letter in the my.placeholder field after saving it, it automaticly reverses to some random caracters (example: instead æ - it shows %u0107). Just so you know all my templates are properly encoded and I do not have this problem with regular articles, just with custom placeholders.

One more thing relating to encoding problem.

When I try to run rss.xml file i get this error due to non-english character

An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource

Sounds like you just need to set your encoding to the right value.

Can you attach the document that is being generated that gives you the XML error? That will allow us to get to the bottom of things much quicker.
