html in artfields Can't Post

Hi gang,

First of all, awesome job on the new upgrade to Article Manager, it has made our lives so much easier!

I am wanting to use a custom tagline at the end of stories that are posted by one of our partners for news coverage and want to have a link to their website in the tagline and possibly an image. Since this wont be used on every story that is posted, just select ones, I need the pulldown to not always be active. There will also be multiple partners that we need to use this for, TV, radio, college newspapers, etc.

An example would be this...

(XYZ-TV Logo goes here) Story provided by our broadcast partner XYZ-TV, Your Hometown News

Create a new spare field by checking "active" and selecting "pulldown" as the field type. Next, for the field name enter something like this:

Credit (,by <a href='http://yahoo.com'>yahoo</a>, by me)

Commas separate the pulldown options. The first comma makes the first option blank so there will be no credit HTML by default. Be sure to use single quotes ' instead of double quotes ".

The one problem I notice with using HTML in the spare fields is it doesn't always see to remember the last entered value when you come back to edit the record. I'm going to look into that. In the meantime, let me know if this works for you.

Dave,

Thanks for the help on doing the html in art fields. I followed your example and have this in the field:

Story provided by (,Story provided by our broadcast partner <a href='http://www.ksntv.com'>KSN-TV Your Hometown News</a>,)

I still don’t have the html showing up, I see all the text but there is no link to click on.

Hi Pat,

I tried doing this myself with ArtMan and ran into the same problem. It looks like Article Manager can't currently handle HTML in pulldowns. We'll be fixing this with the next minor revision of the software.

I'll drop a message in this forum when the new version is complete.
