Writer/Trusted Writer features Can't Post

Hi again,

As I am just starting to to get used to the features of AM, excuse for asking some dumb questions...but,

If a writer wants to submit an article, and then figures he made a mistake or submitted the wrong article alltogether, would't it be nice for the writer to have edit access also and then being able set a 'switch' (field) to 'completed' and then the record of that article gets locked. So the editor can still make changes and approve the content.

If you have that feature you can take the trusted writer out of the equation...or not?? and have the following setup:

Writer: can create, submit and edit articles until set to 'finished' and then locked off.

Editor: as currently set up but with the ability to change the 'lock' on a 'finished' article after the writer has set it to that.

Reality is, that most people don't proof read their articles very well, and the editor has to do all the work if there is no option for a writer to edit the once submitted article.

Also, if there was a 'Print Version' link in the Preview option of the article when editing the text, that would be cool...I noticed that teh page gets thrown up by Explorer when you go Preview without Publishin', but then a lot of people like to do fianl proof reading on hard copy. That is particurlarly true fro people who are doing a lot of proofing...like teachers etc..

If one of you guys at IT wants to look at our current database (Filemaker ) setup to se what we currently use, message me and I'll send you a login and link...

Re: [chris nz] Writer/Trusted Writer features [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Chris,

That's a particularly cool idea. So, if an article wasn't up to par, an editor would be able to throw his hands up in disgust and give the article back to the original writer to fix. This would be even cooler if there was some kind of email notification system too, letting the original writer know that his article is awaiting changes, and why.

I think this would be an excellent feature for a version 2.0 of Article Manager.
