Webfeed Generator Output Can't Post
I have another question about customising the output from the Webfeed Generator.

I want to display the article headlines/summaries in a column format so that the latest 5 articles appear in column one, the next 5 in column 2, the next 5 in column 3 and the final 5 in column 4.

I thought the simplest way to do this would be to make the html code specify which articles to display (if possible)

ie. (displaying latest articles first as default)
'Display articles 1 - 5 from category A' - code ?
'Display articles 6 - 10 from category A' - code ?
'Display articles 11 - 15 from category A' - code ?
'Display articles 16 - 20 from category A' - code ?
I could then simply place the code in an html table to get the positions right.

When a new article was posted, all the article positions would move down one.

Is it possible to do this by simply adding something to the webfeed generator code ? - if not, how can I achieve this ?

Hi there.

Thanks for posting!

To be honest, having the syndicate happen in columns would be quite tricky. That entire template is done in JavaScript and really designed so that you change the styles and fonts using the syndicate.cgi script.

Where abouts were you planning on using the syndicate content? You can actually customize an index template to display your articles in column a way easier than the syndicate.

Hello Ross,

I've actually made an index page where I set out a 5 column table and used includes to call search pages into each cell

eg.
cell 1 - include search page for cat 20 start results at 1
cell 2 - include search page for cat 20 start results at 6
cell 2 - include search page for cat 20 start results at 11
cell 2 - include search page for cat 20 start results at 16
cell 2 - include search page for cat 23 start results at 21

I had 25 results shown in column form - like a newspaper. This looked great, but the problem was that it took too long to load the page.

I then set up a page - into 5 columns as before - and in each column put 5 results from the webfeed. This looked identical but took no time to load up. The problem was that each column had to be a separate category.
