Syndicate & hidden categories Can't Post

Hi,

Should hidden categories be showing under the webfeed gnerator?

Surely if they are hidden, they should also be hidden from this section as well? If not how can I prevent people from selecting these 'hidden' categories?

Hi canvey,

You are right, they should be hidden. We just became aware of that recently and we are working toward having a update to fix the issue that will hopefully be available later today.

Hi,

The Article Manager upgrade is now available which will prevent the webfeed generator from showing hidden categories.

Here is the link to see all the Article Manager changelog details:

Indeed - I was expecting to have to wait for 24-48 hours for my upgrade but no - makes a pleasant change. As one nearly always spots an upgrade on a Saturday, to have to wait until Monday evening or Tuesday is frustrating - but not anymore - well done, and thankyou.

Re: [canvey] Syndicate & hidden categories [In reply to] Can't Post

I disagree - we had been preparing to use the webfeed generator for a number of weeks with a hidden category on the assumption (correct for < Ver 1.22) that hidden categories are hidden from the standard template/frontpage but are available from the syndication facilty.

Dutifully doing the upgrade to ver 1.22 we can no longer control this work.

We need to be able to syndicate hidden categories. How about adding a control specific for inclusion or exclusion in the syndicate category list?

Re: [Orion] Syndicate & hidden categories [In reply to] Can't Post

Do you need the hidden categories to show up in the webfeed category list, or just to be published so they're available for syndication? Because we added a checkbox in setup options for enabling/disabling publishing of hidden categories/syndicated content, but that still won't display the hidden categories in the webfeed category list.

If you keep a copy of your existing syndicate.cgi file, though, it will always show ALL the categories, hidden or not and I don't see up updating that program any time soon. It's pretty independent of the main program.

I hope that helps.
