Search engines Can't Post

When articles are created using Article Manager, are they able to be indexed by search engines?

I don't know anything at all about teckie stuff but it seems that AM articles are php? Do search engines index php pages?

Hi there.

Thanks for posting!

Article Manager actually publishes all of your articles as static files on your server which means search engines will definitely be able to index them.

Now, you do have the option of switching the page extensions on your articles to anything you like so you could have php extenstion. Even then, the articles are still static so they will be searchable.

Does that help? Let me know if there is anything I can go into more detail on for you Smile.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for getting back to me - that's great news! I do have another question. The site statistics I get from my hosting company are pretty inadequate. So for some sites, I use services such as Statcounter which gives much better info.

Can the code for a service like this - just a bit of html - be added to the template?

It's not big deal if it can't, but it would be great if it could!

I don't know what other users experiences are but my AM pages are picked up spectacularly well by Google.

Try typing Blair takes over into Google and you'll see what I mean.

I think the key is to give your pages good headlines. They seem to get picked up very quickly in my experience.

Hi there,

Yes, absolutely! Since the templates are in plain HTML, and it's publishing static pages... anything you can add to a regular, hand-coded page can be added to Article Manager. Your stats code can definitely be added to your templates. :)
