I have been looking seriously at purchasing this script as I love the DocBuilder for courseware.

However, NONE of the demo pages show html endings - example: mywebsite.com/keyword.html or mywebsite.com/keyword-phrase.html - thus they would have a poor time of being picked up via search engines.

What kind of web pages does Article Manager create?
For SEO (search engine optimization), I would like page names to have keywords or keyword phrases (with dashes between the words in the phrase). Is this available with
Article Manager?

I've search the forums both physically and using the search feature and cannot find this question asked or answered anywhere.

Help!!!

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for your post. :)

The demo is actually run inside a frame, so you wouldn't see the actual file extensions. By default, Article Manager uses .shtml for all of the static pages and is therefore very search engine friendly.

Article Manager also allows you to specify filenames for both categories and articles, or to use a default naming scheme.

One thing you might want to do is take a look at our featured clients list -- you can see how the filename's work by looking at some live sites that way:

Don't get too carried away with adding hyphens to your filenames. The top three algorythms perform a character match on the directories, filenames, domain name and then page content. Don't waste time or effort on non-alphabetic characters in your attempt to build an SEO friendly site. And only expect your SEO efforts to have a 15% affect on your website. Backlinks, pay-per-clicks and frequently updated content all play a much larger role in building pagerank.

Not to be miffed but...my post was to ask about modifications to Article Manager to suite my current plans.

The strategy I use for Google optimization requires my being able to do what I stated in my original post.

And from what I know as of today... ALL of my friends that are making six figures a month online are using it.

So do not tell me that it doesn't work - the proof I have says that it does.

Whoa, calm down there. It was just a bit of solid and very current advice from someone who has been in the profitable online arena for quite a long time.

How do you get Article Manager to allow you to name your articles? They are all numbered now and I dont see a field to name it myself.

Changing filenames [In reply to] Can't Post
Hi Steve,

Thanks for your post. :)

To change the filename of an article, there's a setting in the administrative options to set. You can make this change by following these steps:

1. In the Article Manager admin area, click "Setup Options". Under "Editor Settings", look for the option that says "Article Filenames".
2. Check the box that says "Allow users to specify filenames for individual articles", then hit save.

Once you've done that, you can go back into the Create Article screen. You'll see a new field labelled "Filename". Enter the filename that you want to use, and fill out the rest of the fields as you would normally.

This will use the new filename you've entered, rather than the default naming system.

You can also modify the default naming schemes (but still have an automatically generated filename) by editing the Filename Prefix found in the Setup Options under "Server".

I followed the suggestion in this thread, creating a filename field, but when we changed one article it disappeared from our searches. Removing text from the filename field and conducting the same search included the article again. Can anyone enlighten us about this? We'd like to use the filename option, but obviously we would like the articles to still be included when someone does a search. Thanks!
