RSS XML "not registered template" error Can't Post

Hi ...

I've been working with setting us RSS feeds from my ArtMan 1 site.

I come across a problem that I've seen referenced in other posts which is that the rss_template.xml file results in an error reading "Sorry, the template you've requested is not a registered template" when I manually run the publishcron.cgi script. And the rss.xml output page then contains errors and won't load.

I've looked around other posts, but can't seem to find an answer to the problem. Any references I see just say "I sorted it out" and there's no explanation as to how it was fixed.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi paulmcd,

Thanks for the post!

I'll be happy to lend you a hand here, the best place to start will be if you can post a copy of your RSS template file. From here we should be able to track down what is happening. :)

How does this sound? I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Re: [ChetW] RSS XML "not registered template" error [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Chet ...

thanks for the reply.
The RSS template file is the one you posted for me at the thread http://www.interactivetools.com/iforum/Products_C2/Article_Manager_1_F2/rss_template.xml_file_gone_P56532/

I literally copied and pasted from that, saved it as 'rss_template.xml' and uploaded it to the index templates directory.

If I use the search syntax to load a page (/exec/search.cgi?cat=30) I get the correct search results.
But as soon as I use /exec/publishcron.cgi?page=1 it gives me that error message about it not being a registered template.

My 'query1' in publishcron.ini is set to template=index/rss_template.xml&cat=30

And, yes, the template file is in my index templates directory.

And the permissions for both the cgi script and the template files are correct as per the instructions in the Publishcron Read Me file.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Paul.

Re: [paulmcd] RSS XML "not registered template" error [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Paul,

The "not registered" error happens when Article Manager can't find the template specified. Have you tried loading the full string directly in the browser (including the template reference?)

Without looking at your server, it's hard to say exactly where the problem might be... but that might give you a place to start. If you're still having trouble, try filling out a support request form here:

I hope this helps. :)
