Lost articles? Panicking here! Can't Post

Help please!

For the last few weeks, we have been adding articles via AM. This morning, the total was over 2500. (We are aiming for 10,000 prior to launching the site!)

Now, when I look at the article list, it says we have only 677 articles! Yep, it says "Total records: 677" for all categories.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not doing anything wrong. Or am I? Have we just lost 2000 painstakingly-added articles???

Hi,

Thanks for the post!

I will be happy to take a look at this for you Amaranta123, I am thinking that the best way to see what is happening here is to fill out a support request with your ftp details. When I have these details I will be able to login to your server and see what is happening here. :)

You can fill out a support request here:

https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi

Also did you know that there is a new version of Article Manager out! This new version of Article Manager will allow to take advantage of a MySQL database which would probably work well for the 10,000+ articles you are planning to have!

You can read more about Article Manager2 here:

I look forward to hearing back from you soon!

Re: [ChetW] Lost articles? Panicking here! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Chet,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'll certainly put in a support ticket! Luckily, our hosting company had a back up of the site from Thursday evening, so were able to recover most of the missing articles. (However, the 200+ we added after the back up were lost - grrrrr). Mad

But I want to make sure it doesn't happen again! (I think I got a whole new set of grey hairs and wrinkles yesterday!)

Article Manager 2 looks wonderful. What are the ramifications of upgrading? How do I do this? As you'll understand, after the loss of those articles yesterday, I am being very cautious!

Thanks!

Hi there.

Thanks for getting back in touch!

I haven't actually had a chance to check out your support request just yet, however, I can go over Article Manager 2 with you right now Smile.

With Article Manager 1 we actually have a recommend limit of 2500 article so you are already at that point. With Article Manager 2 you can actually hook it up to a MySQL database so you’ll be able to have an unlimited number of articles. With a goal of 10,000+ articles, you'll definitely want to be working with Article Manager 2. I actually just recently did an upgrade that, when all was said an done, had 32,000+ articles. Article Manager 2 handled it all beautifully.

Now, the upgrade process itself is actually great as not only will it import all your current articles into the new system, it will do it without affecting your existing Article Manager 1 site. Article Manager 2 will work in its own folders until you are ready to "throw the switch".

The best two things about all this is that the upgrade is actually free so you can download the files from our site:

http://www.interactivetools.com/upgrade/

And we offer free support with all our software so we'll be here to lend a hand if you need it Smile. As soon as I have had a chance to go over your support request, I'll see what was happening and get back to you again.

Ross, it sounds fantastic. I have just put in the support ticket. The AM section of the site isn't live yet, so there are no templates to worry about as yet so hopefully everything will go well. I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks!
