Location of admin.cgi Can't Post

Hi,

I have a problem with the location of admin.cgi

If I run cgi from the usual directory of /artman/exec/ no problem - however I am building some pages using AM, and wish to run admin.cgi as an include file. Now whilst the admin page displays and logs in fine automatically as soon as the link is clicked - when any button is clicked the script can no longer find admin.cgi?whatever.

As far as I can see it is trying to look in the current directory, which of course is no longer /exec but is now /newfolder - how can I change the location of admin.cgi globally so it actually looks in either /artman/exec/ or /server/folder/web/artman/exec/ (not sure which one it would require)?

I assume by making the change globally it would not affect someone logging into /artman/exec/ as it would be looking from either the server or local root.

Thanks.

Re: [canvey] Location of admin.cgi [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

I tried creating a page including the Article Manager admin page using an SSI but found the same results as you. After clicking a button the browser looks for the admin in the root.

The only workable solution I can think of is to include the Article Manager admin page within an existing web page is to use a frame.

Another option may be to have a username and password field added to one of the sites pages that submits them to the Article Manager admin. This would allow users to login directly from the main site. I don't think this is what you had in mind though.

Re: [Damon] Location of admin.cgi [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I am in fact already linking the username & password, so that the form logs in fine - the problem comes when the person would then click on submit, the preview button, or the question marks etc.

I guess I could alter the templates manually to link the buttons to the correct paths - but if I did that - should I link them to the local, server or even URL paths? (would this cause any problems)

Would it not be possible in the next version to be able to set the path of the exec directory, and indeed perhaps the data paths - this way we could in fact include the data above the level of the website, for security. This would then able the webmaster to position the files in different directories, and indeed enable the forms to be included in other pages (as I am trying to do)

Therefore perhaps the data could be set to say

/server/space/data/

whilst the publish directory might be at

/server/space/web/artman/publish/

I am not sure if moving it would have implications on the script, but I guess this could be adapted.

Hi,

Good news. You can move the data file to any area of your site that like. Actually I installed software recently on a site where the data directory was located above the website root.

After you move the data directory, you will need to enter the path into the config.ini file. And that is it.

Both of your data and publish directory path examples should work without any problems.

I hope that helps.
